Interview with Steve

High Roller Casino Bonuses is conducting interviews with players, casino operators and managers, and portal webmasters as it relates to high roller bonuses and perks and the online gaming industry in general. This interview is with Steve, an outstanding and outspoken webmaster with a distinct point of view and a unique online voice. I met Steve through the webmaster community at Casino Affiliate Programs, where he posts under the username "bb1webs", and Steve's gone out of his way to be helpful to me as I've launched my own career as a portal webmaster.

Which websites do you run?

Online Betting for High Rollers

KCsod.com

GI Gamble

Casino Payout Percentage

Flash Vegas

Poker Toker

Two Card Holdem

Poker Sharks

I think there are about 20 in all.

Which one is your flagship site?

OnlineBettingBuddy.com

What is your website's mission?

To make me money. (smile) Jus' kidding around.

You mean besides that? I cater to the more serious entertainment-minded, yet no-nonsense type of gambler who, like myself, are people who don't want to talk algebra, nor learn it, to be able to gamble. But with that in mind, are also not going to accept anything less than what should be accepted:

1- Secure banking. (I don't want to gamble with my identity or my credit card information.)

2- Fair odds games via the use of a random number generator. Without that, whether or not a casino pays, and how fast they pay, doesn't really matter, does it?

3- To get paid, and in a timely fashion.

4- Competent, courteous, and prompt customer support. Anything more than 24 hours is not good.

The rest is just trim. The above are requirements that can't be bent, with the exception of the customer service response time. There are a couple of casinos who are slow to respond, but they always do respond, which is paramount.

How long have you been a gambling portal webmaster?

Since 2000.

What made you decide to get into this business?

My father retired from the business of growing and installing turf quality grass and handed the business over to myself, my brother and two cousins and there were just too many generals and not enough privates so I walked away empty-handed from a business that could comfortably support 4 owners in an above what I would have expected life-style. I had about $3k at the time and that didn't last very long. I remember at my near-lowest point; I had earned about $10k with a casino that owed it to me for referrals sent over a 2 1/2 month period of time and coming to the realization that I was never going to get paid; which was my lowest point.

That was a fast introduction to the world of online gambling. I was lucky in that the players sent to that casino (Quicksilver Casino; now defunct and I had a part in that as well) never won any money so there was never a question as to whether the players got paid - and I did as soon as I realized the situation, send out warnings and post them on my sites; and I created pages targeting Quicksilver Casino in the search engines which warned people to stay away, right there in the heading that was displayed on the search engine. I remember at one point if you typed in "Quicksilver Casino" that you'd get one listing to their site; and as many as 5 pages (all mine) that warned people to stay away. The manager's name was Mike Dibley. Avoid this snake in the grass at all costs.

What's your favorite thing about being a webmaster?

The freedom to spend time with my children at will. Though I do work almost all night on a weekly basis.

What's your least favorite thing about being a webmaster?

Dealing with cheating casinos.

How much interaction do you have with your website visitors?

I think a lot more than most of my peers. I have a live help link and if I'm not available, am usually quick to reply to emails. I've also just recently added the phone number to my personal cell phone as a last ditch effort for people that have not been able to reach me thru the more conventional means. The last thing I want is for one of my surfers to go around thinking that I have let them down.

Do you have any high rollers playing?

Yes, and I know some of them personally now. And they're an interesting lot. Most, if not all of them, are women.

Which games do you like to play online?

I like the hold 'em tables at the poker rooms. I play under KCSod.com or some variation of that.

What's your favorite casino to play at?

That's a toughie. I'm probably luckiest at the Cryptologic software poker room, or, for regular casino games, the Microgaming casinos. Specifically of late it's been Spin Palace.

Which casino group is your favorite to promote, and why?

Wagershare at the moment is making me the most money.

Casino Reward's admin has become a trusted personality over the years, but only one of their casinos has performed well for me.

What are your top five web bookmarks?

1- My stats pages for my sites.

2- Neteller

3- The places I advertise.

4- Search engines.

5- Casino Affiliate Programs

Is there a difference between the high rollers who play at brick and mortar casinos and the high rollers who play online?

Yes. I cannot make a dime on the high rollers who play at land-based casinos. Actually, I would guess the major difference would be that there is a much higher percentage of female high rollers playing online. The atmosphere at home I'm sure is much more appealing to the ladies than a smoke-filled gambling house. Therefore they are much more likely to be playing online.

Which games and which softwares do the high rollers prefer to play online?

The games are as varied as the personalities of those playing them. The software is Microgaming, without a doubt. The other softwares aren't even close.

Which casinos attract the most high rollers?

I think Spin Palace has become the most popular hangout for high rollers from my sites. They're very good at pampering.

What advice would you give a new webmaster who wanted to get involved in this area of the web?

Don't give up your day job. (smile) Times are questionable, and right now, it would be tough to break in. But I'm not saying it's impossible.

What mistakes would you warn new webmasters not to make?

Find out from reputable portal owners which casinos' programs are not going to cheat you to death, because it's a good rule of thumb on spotting casinos you wouldn't want to be sending players to even if they didn't cheat you. We are always the last to be paid, first to be cheated. That's just the way it is; but it also is a great way of weeding out casinos that are potentially going to end up making the players unsatisfied for one reason or another (usually non or slow payment issues).

If you had to sum up your approach to being a webmaster in the online gaming industry in one sentence, what would that sentence be?

That I stand behind my guarantee and my integrity cannot be bought.

High Roller Casino Bonuses thanks Steve for his participation in our interview product, and we wish him and all his websites continued success.
